NeuroQuant
NeuroQuant, an FDA-approved automated MRI volumetric analysis software, has become an increasingly valuable tool in the evaluation of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), a complex, multi-system illness often triggered by biotoxin exposure such as mold.
In the context of CIRS, NeuroQuant aids clinicians by providing quantitative assessments of specific brain structures that are frequently affected in the condition, such as the hippocampus, amygdala, caudate nucleus, and cortical gray matter.
Abnormal volumetric patterns identified by NeuroQuant can support the diagnosis, track disease progression, and guide treatment efficacy, offering an objective biomarker in a condition that is otherwise largely diagnosed through clinical history, laboratory findings, and symptom clusters.
CIRS may be a primary driver for Alzheimer’s Disease
One of the standout moments from this year’s CIRSx Conference was the keynote talk by Dr. Dale Bredesen, a renowned neurologist and neuroscientist recognized globally for his groundbreaking work on neurodegenerative diseases—particularly Alzheimer’s disease.
In his influential 2016 publication, Dr. Bredesen introduced a compelling new framework for understanding Alzheimer’s. He proposed the existence of a third subtype - Type 3 Alzheimer’s, or Inhalational Alzheimer’s - which he linked to chronic exposure to biotoxins commonly found in water-damaged buildings. According to his model, many of these patients may, in fact, be suffering from CIRS.
Following his keynote, I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Bredesen directly and explore his views on the connection between CIRS and cognitive decline. With more than four decades of clinical experience, Dr. Bredesen has treated countless patients across the neurodegenerative spectrum. What stood out most from our conversation was his estimate that up to 80% of Alzheimer’s patients may present with CIRS as a precursor to their neurodegenerative symptoms.
While this figure has yet to be confirmed through large-scale studies, it raises a crucial point: biotoxin illness may be a significant - if not central - driver of neurodegeneration. This insight highlights the urgent need for CIRS patients to assess their brain using an imaging volumetric tool like NeuroQuant (more on that below).
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR NEUROQUANT SCAN
In order to analyse NeruoQuant in the context of CIRS, it is important that the reports are generated with software version 3.0.
CIRS Lab offers the conversion for $175.00. Raw DICOM files issued by the radiology facility can be emailed to us as Google drive link or sent to us a physical CD.
CIRS Lab will then populate the following reports:
General Morphometry Report
TBA Report
Dementia Report
Seizure Report
Pediatrics Report
If you’d like to book an interpretation session with Christian to analyise your reports, you can book a bundle for conversion and 1h session at $350.00.
You would need to obtain a Surviving Mold NeuroQuant Analyses before the consultation by entering your data from the General Morphometry Report www.survivingmold.com ($25).
If you have any questions please reach out to us at: thecirslab@gmail.com
GET a NEUROQUANT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
You can now have an MRI scan at your local facility without them needing to have NeuroQuant software. Make sure to confirm with the facility that they can apply the right scanner settings (request the setting from CIRS Lab) before you proceed with the scan. Once the facility has confirmed the settings are applicable, run a regular MRI and send us the raw files digitally or as CD and we will populate all relevant NeuroQuant reports for $175.00.
